Spring Cider Dinner

After the success of our first two cider dinners, Bristol Cider Shop and I will be co-hosting another cider-themed supper evening at Bishopston Supper Club on Friday 23rd March. For those of you who have never attended a supper club before please check out the Bishopston Supper Club page to see how it all works. The only difference in this case is that a glass of cider would be served to match each course (rather than the usual BYO). The number of places is limited and on this occasion we request that a deposit of £10 per person be paid to Bristol Cider Shop, in advance, the remaining £30 to be paid, in cash, on the night. We aim to demonstrate that cider can be a great alternative to wine when cooking and matching with food. I’ll be using some of their cider in the cooking and each course will be accompanied by a carefully selected match from their wide range of products available, all made from 100% real juice by independent artisan producers within 30 miles of Bristol. Pete from Bristol Cider Shop will be there on the night to talk about the cider choices.

The menu will look something like this;

Hix Fix – Champagne style cider with a cherry steeped in cider eau de vie

Wild garlic soup, nettle pesto – Oliver’s Shezam

Seared scallops, cauliflower, shallots, cider glaze – Perry’s Somerset Redstreak

OR Shallot tart tatin, cider & thyme vinaigrette (v)

Cider-cured ham, purple sprouting broccoli, parsley sauce – Ben Crossman’s Prime Farmhouse

OR Cauliflower, purple sprouting broccoli and Old Demdike gratin (v)

Treacle tart, honey & orange ice cream – Once Upon a Tree Blenheim Superb

Coffee/Lahloo teas, shortbread, Somerset Cider Brandy

Arrival from 7.30pm, £40 all-inclusive (£10 deposit to be paid in advance to Bristol Cider Shop and the remaining £30 to be paid on the night).

There should be plenty to drink with the food but please feel free to bring your own drinks as well, if you wish.

NB. I’m happy to substitute menu items for suitable alternatives if there is anyone with specific dietary requirements. Please specify when booking.

To book – call, visit the Bristol Cider Shop website, email or pop in the shop;
